Justin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Family Matters Of Marin. By the time Justin was 18 years old, he knew he wanted to be a therapist. For Justin therapy was such a life changing experience in his high school years, that the only thing he could imagine dedicating his life to was offering the same sense of healing, growth, and learning that he felt from working with his own therapist at the time. With the huge impact therapy had on Justin in his teen years, he has become deeply passionate about supporting youth and families when they need it most. Since 2018, Justin has been following his dream of practicing therapy.  He started by working at a community-oriented Gestalt clinic in San Francisco where he saw clients and assisted in facilitating weekly training for Graduate level students. In his time working in San Francisco, he gained experience seeing children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.  These clients came from a multitude of different backgrounds and presenting issues such as:

    • multicultural/inter-racial couples and families
    • divorced/separated couples and families
    • refugees
    • different socio-economic status
    • marriage and premarital issues
    • young parents, grandparents, and sibling relationships
    • LGBTQ+
    • victims of childhood physical and sexual abuse
    • acute and complex trauma
    • grief
    • depression
    • anxiety
    • OCD
    • ADD/ADHD

Justin’s experience has taught him that there is no cookie cutter solution that works for any one person or family. Leaning on his artistic background in creative writing (BA in English Creative Writing from Colorado College), he relies heavily on creative techniques to enliven and heal individuals, families and relationships.

Justin is a very attentive and non-judgmental person who really cares and listens deeply to his clients and their stories.  He is an avid learner and determined to search for new modalities and scientific discoveries to further his own education and understanding of broader human phenomena.  Much of Justin’s work is grounded in his 15 years of working with a somatic psychotherapist and learning from the inherent wisdom of the body. From meditation to breathwork, much of what he offers stems from listening to his intuition, which garners his confidence and energy in the room. Beyond intuition, Justin received his Masters in Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies, and is currently an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Some of his techniques include Gestalt, awareness and mindfulness, CBT, inner child work, and narrative and somatic therapy.  Justin is always working under a trauma-informed and client centered lens.

While Justin moved around a lot growing up, he considers Marin County his home.  He graduated from Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley.  Justin currently lives in Marin with his wife and dog. He enjoys the natural beauty of the land by hiking, biking and camping often. Other hobbies include cooking, baking, fermenting, playing games, making music, and sharing time with family and friends.
